This volunteer opportunity is on hold due to COVID-19.

Adult volunteers (over 18 y.o.) are based in the waiting room at some primary care health centers to read aloud with children of all ages, model book-sharing techniques and show by example that reading aloud is fun for parent and child.  Each Reach Out and Read site’s health organization has its own volunteer application guidelines. Click below or call 215-590-5989 for more information.

DONATE GENTLY USED CHILDREN'S BOOKS

Most Reach Out and Read Greater Philadelphia (RORGP) sites can accept donations of gently used books for children so the healthcare staff can promote literacy to more children and families and give them books to take home, keep and enjoy.

The RORGP sites cannot accept more book donations at this time.   Please check back in 2022 or contact us by email or phone.

HOST A BOOK DRIVE

Most Reach Out and Read sites are in need of appropriate donated children's books for the literacy rich waiting rooms and exam rooms. Consider hosting a book drive at your office, at an elementary school, your book club or other places!

However, due to COVID-19, there are changes in our needs and the RORGP sites cannot accept more donations of books at this time.

Instead, please consider hosting a virtual book drive to support the RORGP sites so they can receive the new books they need for the young patients being seen for primary care well visits.
